SUMMARY:Kentish Killer 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Kentish Killer sportive marks the start of the cycling season in South East England – regarded by clubs and riders as one of the UK’s toughest\, most demanding sportives. It is held on back to back weekends with the Hell of the Ashdown (HOTA)\, another extremely testing sportive. The Kentish Killer 2026 is set for Sunday 1st March and the route will follow the same course as previous years. \nThis event has been popular with Team De Ver\, our riders having taken part for the last 13 years. A number of members have expressed an interest for this event so there should be good representation and a good atmosphere. \nOrganisation moved from GS Avanti to Flamme Rouge Events after COVID lockdowns caused 2020/2021 events to be cancelled\, but the format and route remains the same and the event has maintained a link with charity Kent Air Ambulance. Climbs include Bates Hill\, Carter’s Hill\, Hubbards Hill\, Fordcombe Hill\, Ide Hill\, Sundridge Hill\, Row Dow\, Tinker Pot Lane. \nThe registration/start is at Brands Hatch motor racing circuit\, nearest train station is Eynsford which is on the Thameslink line (Denmark Hill\, Peckham Rye). Some members may drive so watch the WhatsApp group for messages if you need a lift. Entrance and car park is the main entrance “Colin Chapman Way” off the A20\, beware satnav may direct you via Scratchers Lane. \nRegistration opens at 10am on Wednesday 12 November – with details on the Kentish Killer website. This is a very popular event and will sell out quickly. \nRegistration cost in 2025 was £42.50 +£3.31 Booking Fee – Sign up via the Flamme Rouge Eventrac website. \nIf you sign/ed up to Hell of the Ashdown this year you will receive a discount code for Kentish Killer\, so you can enter both and DO THE DOUBLE. \nLong route (66.9 miles\, 5676ft climbing)\nThe organisers publish this on RideWithGPS (Long Route). We shared this in 2025 on Garmin Connect (KK2025 Long). SUMMARY:Team De Ver AGM and Spring Social 2026
DESCRIPTION:Our 2026 Annual General Meeting has been set for Wednesday 4 March starting at 7:30pm and will be followed by social drinks. We shall meet in the back room of The Railway opposite Streatham Common station. All club members are welcome\, your input to will be welcome and valuable. \n7:30pm – AGM will focus on a round up of the year\, election of committee members\, and propose some of the events for the year ahead. The agenda will be posted via WhatsApp group\, near the date. If you would like to suggest any topics please post these to the WhatsApp chat or via the Contact form on this website. \nAt the AGM all committee members stand down and are either re-elected or new people take over. If you are interested in being part of the committee please pass your nomination to the secretary\, Nathan by Monday 2nd March. (find his contact details in the WhatsApp group chat/info). \n8:00pm-ish after the AGM – Spring Social and Awards Regardless of whether you have been out riding\, this is a chance for all members old and new to come and join together for a few drinks and to catch up or get to know each other. \nThe club will provide some nibbles\, buy your own drinks. \nWho deserves an award? If you think someone in the club deserves recognition for their contribution to the club or cycling achievement over the last year\, please contact Fran or Drew (you can find them as members of the club WhatsApp group) and let them know who and why. \nHope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Surrey Rumble 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Surrey Rumble is a timed sportive on Sunday 22nd March 2026 organised by Twickenham CC. Two distances 80 miles (125km) and 60 miles (95km) starting in Cobham riding south via Ewhurst towards Billingshurst and returning via Dunsfold and Puttenham. \nCheckpoint & refreshment points are at Fishers Farm and Tongham Community Centre (Long route: miles 29 and 57. Short route: mile 38) \nFirst rider: 07:30\nLast rider: 10.00\nEvent close: 15:00 \nThe last rider has five hours to complete their chosen route – 12mph / 19kmph for the short route or 16mph / 25 kmph for the long route \nEntry is only £22* and it looks like a good friendly event which is staffed by club members and popular with locals\, with around 200 riders each year. (*£30 on the day if any places remain) \nRegistration is open now via the British Cycling website\, entries close on 17 March. \nStart/Finish\nStart/Finish location is at Downside Village Hall. \nNearest train stations are Cobham & Stoke D’Abernon or Effingham Junction which can be reached from Clapham Junction (change at Surbiton). The first trains on Sundays appear to be 7:06 arr 7:46 (change at Surbiton)\, or 7:57 arr 8:46 (change at Surbiton). \nPlease note there is no parking at the Village Hall. The event website recommends using Holly Hedge Car Park at KT11 3DQ (£7.90 charge)\, or Cobham & Stoke D’Abernon station (£3.70). \nRoute\nRoutes are on Ride with GPS for Long Route 77.7 miles and Short Route 58.2 miles. \n\n \n
