Ride For Rwanda
Ride for Rwanda is a charity cycle event from Crawley, UK to Amsterdam, NL, 40 of us riding 560 km over 3.5 days to raise fund helping women in Rwanda fight against cervical cancer.
It was an exhilarating adventure through picturesque landscapes and vibrant cities.
Day 1 – 145km: Start our journey from Elekta office in Crawley and head towards the coast, passing through scenic countryside and quaint villages. Crossed the English Channel via ferry, landing in Calais, France.
Day 2 – 170km: Continue cycling through the French and Belgian countryside. Didn’t get much chance enjoying the surroundings as it took us 5 inner tube and 1 tyre to get to Ghent.
Day 3 – 173km: Ride into flat Dutch landscapes, following well-marked cycling paths alongside canals and windmills. Arrive in Rotterdam.
Day 4 – 80km: The final leg in the rain takes us to Amsterdam, where our cycle trip concludes with memories of a remarkable journey. We raised £45,000 in total from the ride, such an amazing achievement!
I would like to thank everyone at Team De Ver for your support to my training and preparation, really appreciate it! Remember I didn’t even own a road bike a few months back?!!! 😊 It was such a pleasure to ride with all of you, and not to mention that pub and cake stops were all part of the contribution too!
