Lanzarote Training Camp 2023

I booked the Lanzarote training camp in March with some trepidation as I had been unwell and off the bike for two months.  I certainly wasn’t expecting to have such a memorable experience.  The first day kicked off with a never to forget climb up to Haria which took me some 3 hours and was a very painful experience.  I had been advised to take pedals, helmet etc. but no-one told me to take my own saddle – double ouch for the rest of the week, but I persevered.

However, it was fantastic camp made possible by Mia and Maurice and of course all the riders and non-riders whom I met during the week.   The weather was hot and windy, the hotel food was pretty good and of course it was eat all you want – I had a potassium overload and never want to see another banana!   The rides were amazing and after a gap of some 30 years and previous cycling training camps, this one was the very best by far.  I have to say a big thank you to Everard for sticking with me when I got dropped.

I am definitely going to be a regular and my best advice is – Ladies, take your own saddle!!!
