Spring Onion 2026

We were treated to glorious sun, perfect temperatures and a touch of wind. Starting at the usual and now familiar starting point of Cobham Village Hall.

We had everyone start together which was wonderful before as expected things blew apart over the early back to back challenge of Shere Hill and Crocknorth. From here we had Tim off the front, group 2 was me and Giles in pursuit. Group 3 Roger, Anne and Helga (working together wonderfully when I saw them). Group 4 was Simon, Enda and Haydar with Cong about to catch. Group 5 we had Fran, Jonathan, Drew and Rohan. Group 6 was Andy P and Richard. Those groups would mostly stay as is, with Giles deciding Tim was more pleasant company and going up the road to join and finish with him. Whilst I joined Roger, Anne and Helga for a great little day out.

 

Some shout-outs. Basically everyone but in particular – Andy P and Richard who finished despite going quite a way off-route. Roger who decided the finish was too soon adding a few extra miles despite suffering with cramp. And Rohan whose tech let him down and gave him an extra 10 miles. Lastly Anne and Helga who topped the Women’s results once more but this time showing they can do the lion share of the work on the front themselves 💪.
